I was torn about what to do, but she cut right to the chase. "Look, you're not finding any good options for this mess, and sure, my help might be a little out of date, but it's still solid," she argued. "Who says it's not valuable? And since when do we start putting expiration dates on help? Last time I checked, help in the morning is just as good as help at night."
I could not argue with her logic.
She caught the uncertainty in my eyes and pressed, "Yvette, are you trying to avoid me? Is that why you won't take my help?"
I was at a loss for words and shook my head frantically. "No, that's not it," I stammered, not wanting her to get the wrong idea. "I guess I'll be in your debt for a while."
She seemed pleased with that and agreed without hesitation.
