Chapter 662 I'm Not Scared When You're Around
Lucas held my hand gently in his, "Yeah, let's head home."
He gave a wave to Peter, who was nearby. Peter nodded and waved back, signaling his farewell.
As I sat there, lost in the hum of the bus, my mind was adrift, and my feelings were hard to pin down. I still could not figure out why I had impulsively hugged him. All I knew was that his gaze, so gentle as he approached me through the falling snow, made me feel undeserving. I was at a loss, so I just buried myself in his embrace.
Lucas was in high spirits. Once we got back to our grand home, he whipped up a feast. I had been overindulging lately, and it was starting to show. I had definitely put on a few pounds and I could feel a new life stirring inside me.
Post-dinner, I reached for a book out of habit. As I stood up, however, I felt a distinct flutter in my belly. It caught me off guard, I froze, unsure of what to do next.
