CHAPTER 55 THE LOSS
MINERVA POV
I scrolled through multiple photos of animals on Instagram and liked each one.
They were just so cute, innocent and adorable.
I want to get one for myself. Maybe a dog, a cat, a rabbit, or a parrot.
I couldn't just choose one.
I made a mental note to visit a pet shelter later.
I wasn't sure if a dog would stay, as it would perceive me as another animal, albeit one at a higher position in the food chain.
"Since I can't decide, I'm going to ask for Meredith's opinion," I said, folding my legs on the couch.
My phone vibrated in my palm.
Dominic was there.
"What does he want now?" I mumbled.
We hadn't contacted each other after that day.
I warned him of a creature he might be unknowingly abhorring at home, and he dismissed me, angrily disconnecting the call.
As it rang, I stared at it until it stopped.
It rang back almost immediately.
At the third ring, I picked it up.
"What is it, Dominic?" I asked, sounding petty.
There was heavy breathing at the end
