Chapter 5
"Nope," I told Caleb without hesitation.
He'd initially been smoking, but he stubbed it out at my words. Then, he gripped my jaw and forced me to meet his gaze. "What do you mean, Carissa? Are you playing me?"
He gnashed his teeth, probably not having had a woman pull a fast one on him like this. I was the first.
I smirked and looked into his eyes. "How can you say I'm playing you, Uncle Caleb? Sex is sex. Neither of us is losing out."
I would be crazy to get together with Caleb. He wasn't as easily fooled or shaken off as Michael was. It was enough for me to get a taste of him.
In all honesty, he wasn't too bad. He looked good and was great in bed.
After that, I left Goldman Manor. I didn't need to look back to know Caleb's expression was hideous.
…
After leaving Goldman Manor that day, I didn't see Caleb again. One night, my best friend, Emily Green, asked me out for drinks. I met her at the appointed bar.
I was playing with my glass when a familiar voice rang out beside me.
