“Yeah, he defied orders to go back and search, so naturally, I couldn’t just let him walk into danger. I had him restrained until the delivery was completed, and then we resumed the search with more people.”
Henry’s gaze dropped, a shadow of reluctance in his eyes.

“Did you find her?”
“Yes,” he replied, his voice rough as if grating against gravel. “We found her in an abandoned Jeep, naked, blood smeared everywhere…”
“Is she... dead?” Giselle’s eyes widened, her heart sinking.
“Yes, over thirty people, they violated her.”
Giselle had always viewed Henry as a man of stone—decisive, cold, a sovereign who commanded either allegiance or absence from his towering throne.
But now, in this vulnerable moment, he seemed profoundly human. At least, he cared about Nathan’s feelings.
