CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVE - The Proposal
Claire's voice grew stronger as she continued, "I need you to make time for us, Mason. Even if it's just a few minutes each day. I need to know that I matter to you, that we matter to you, as much as your company does."
There was a long silence on the other end of the line. For a moment, Claire feared she had pushed too far.
Finally, Mason spoke, his voice thick with emotion. "Claire, I'm so sorry. I've been a complete idiot. Of course you matter to me. You matter more than anything."
"Then show me," Claire said softly. "I'm not asking you to neglect your company or the lawsuit. I'm just asking for a place in your life."
"You have it," Mason said firmly. "I promise, Claire. Things will be different. Can... can we meet? Talk about this in person?"
Claire felt a weight lift from her shoulders. "Yes, I'd like that. But Mason, I need you to understand – this is your last chance. I won't be pushed aside again."
