CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHT - KEYS TO THE MAZE
Mason laughed, the tension of the past hour finally releasing. "I don't know, but I'm not questioning it. I think we just experienced a bonafide miracle."
They stood there for a moment, letting the reality of their narrow escape sink in. Then, almost simultaneously, they burst into laughter. The stress and worry of the past hour melted away, replaced by a giddy sense of relief.
"Oh man," Mason wheezed, wiping tears of mirth from his eyes. "Can you imagine if we'd had to call a locksmith? Or worse, your parents?"
Claire groaned at the thought. "My mom would have never let us live it down. She's still going on about the time I lost my retainer in high school."
As their laughter subsided, Mason pulled Claire and Henry into a tight hug. "You know," he said softly, "as stressful as that was, I'm kind of glad it happened."
Claire pulled back, looking at him quizzically. "You're glad we nearly got stranded in a strange city?"
