CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-NINE: A WEDDING TO REMEMBER
Security guards quickly moved to intercept Jason, but not before he locked eyes with Claire. "Tell them, Claire! Tell them you don't love him!"
As Jason was escorted out, his shouts echoing down the hallway, Claire felt all eyes on her. She stood frozen, mortified and shaken.
Mason was at her side in an instant, his arm around her waist. "I think that's enough excitement for one evening," he announced to the room. "Thank you all for coming. We look forward to seeing you at the wedding."
Later that night, as they lay in bed, both too wired to sleep, Claire turned to Mason. "Maybe we should just elope," she said softly. "Run away to some tropical island and get married with just the two of us."
Mason was quiet for a long moment, and Claire feared he might actually be considering it. Finally, he propped himself up on one elbow, looking down at her with a tender smile.
