CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-TWO: FAMILY FRICTIONS
The gleaming storefronts of Rodeo Drive reflected the morning sun as Claire, Daniela, and Evelyn stepped out of a sleek black town car. Claire's hand instinctively went to her growing baby bump, a mixture of excitement and apprehension fluttering in her stomach.
"Now, darling," Daniela began, her Louboutins clicking authoritatively on the pavement, "I've arranged appointments at only the most exclusive bridal boutiques. We'll start with Vera Wang, then move on to Oscar de la Renta, and finish the day at Elie Saab."
Evelyn cleared her throat, adjusting her modest handbag. "Actually, I was thinking we could also visit that lovely little boutique I read about. They specialize in vintage-inspired gowns."
Daniela's perfectly sculpted eyebrow arched. "Vintage? Dear, this is a Steele wedding, not a costume party."
Claire felt her mother stiffen beside her. "Mom, Mrs. Steele, please. Can we just focus on finding a dress I love?"
"Of course, sweetheart," Evelyn said, patting Claire's arm.
