CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SIX: ROBERT'S DISCOVERY
Red brought the car to a screeching halt at the edge of a precipice. "Everybody out," he ordered, brandishing the knife. "It's time for your initiation."
Mason, realizing they were in serious danger, decided it was time to take a stand. As they exited the vehicle, he positioned himself between Red and the others.
"This ends now, Red," he said, his voice firm despite the fear coursing through him. "We're not going anywhere with you."
Red's face contorted with rage. "You ungrateful bastards!" he spat. "After everything I've done for you, this is how you repay me?"
He lunged forward, the knife flashing in the early morning sunlight. Mason managed to dodge the first swipe, but Red was quicker than he looked. The knife slashed across Mason's forearm, drawing a line of red.
Claire screamed, and Robert sprang into action. He tackled Red from behind, sending them both tumbling to the ground. The knife skittered across the rocky surface, coming to rest near the edge of the cliff.
