CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY - The Proposal
Mason nodded, scanning their surroundings. His eyes fell on a dense thicket of vegetation nearby. "There," he said, pointing. "It's not much, but it might give us a chance to catch our breath and figure out our next move."
They crawled into the thicket, the leaves and branches providing a modicum of cover. As they huddled together, trying to warm up and catch their breath, Mason examined the radio Claire had found.
"It's old," he murmured, turning it over in his hands. "But if we can get it working, it might be our ticket out of here."
Claire watched anxiously as Mason fiddled with the device, his brow furrowed in concentration. After what felt like an eternity, a crackle of static emanated from the radio. Mason's eyes lit up.
"It works!" he exclaimed, quickly lowering his voice as he remembered their precarious situation. He began turning the dial, searching for a frequency that might bring help.
