CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY - Cutting Ties
The following week, Mason and Claire found themselves sitting side by side on a comfortable couch in Dr. Evelyn Reeves' office. The therapist, a woman in her fifties with kind eyes and a gentle demeanor, smiled warmly at them.
"So, Mason and Claire," Dr. Reeves began, "why don't you tell me what brings you here today?"
Mason and Claire exchanged a glance, silently deciding who would start. Claire nodded encouragingly, and Mason cleared his throat.
"Well, we've been through a lot lately," he began. "My father... he came back into my life and caused a lot of trouble. He tried to sabotage my company and our relationship."
Dr. Reeves nodded, her expression neutral. "That sounds like a very difficult situation. How did it affect your relationship?"
Claire spoke up. "It put a huge strain on us. Mason was so focused on saving his company that he became distant. And I... I let Victor's manipulations get to me. I started doubting Mason, even accused him of cheating."
