CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TEN - Isabella's Disappearance
As the weeks passed, Claire struggled to return to normal life. She found herself second-guessing every interaction, wondering if each new acquaintance might be another con artist in disguise. Her work suffered, her friendships became strained, and she could feel herself pulling away from Mason, despite his unwavering support.
Finally, Mason suggested they take some time away from the city. "Let's go to Napa," he said one evening. "Just for a weekend. We can stay at that little B&B you love, drink some wine, try to relax a little."
Claire hesitated, but seeing the concern in Mason's eyes, she nodded. "Okay," she said softly. "That sounds nice."
The rolling hills of Napa Valley were a balm to Claire's frayed nerves. As they strolled through sun-dappled vineyards and sipped rich, velvety wines, she felt some of the tension begin to leave her body.
