I shook my head again, feeling more unsettled by the minute. “No, I can’t do this. I can’t stay here any longer.”
Drake looked at me with a puzzled expression. “What are you talking about, Camilla?”
“I mean it,” I said firmly, pacing the room as my mind raced. “I can’t stay here. I think it’s best if we both go home.”
Drake raised an eyebrow. “But you have a meeting tomorrow. You need to finish your project. This is important.”
“I’ll finish it at home,” I replied, packing my files into my bag with quick movements. “I can’t concentrate here. I need to get out.”
Drake stepped closer, his tone soft yet persuasive. “Camilla, nothing bad is going to happen as long as I’m here with you. We can stay, and I’ll keep watch. It’s just a noise; it could have been nothing.”
