Chapter 918
Elizabeth called Hazel from her ward. She inquired, "Has Grace delivered yet?"
"Not yet, Mom," Hazel replied. "It's been an hour since she went in."
Inside the delivery room, Grace's cries of pain echoed through the space. It was inaudible to those outside but it stroked deeply at Oliver's heart.
"Darling, I'm exhausted. I'm running out of strength," Grace whimpered.
Hearing her screams, Oliver held her hand tightly, pressing it to his cheek while gently wiping the sweat from her brow.
"Just a little longer, sweetheart. Once our baby's here, we'll never have to go through this again."
Grace sobbed out of the pain.
"If I don't have another one, are you going to write my thesis for me?"
"I'll write it. I'll do anything you ask for, okay?" Oliver replied.
The medical staff, accustomed to childbirth, worked calmly. Yet Grace's teary plea drew amused smiles.
