Hazel asked, "James, did you get into an argument with Oliver?"
James snapped without looking up, "Shut up. I've got half an hour to finish a full day's workload."
Hazel glanced at his computer screen, then casually picked up a file from his desk and flipped it open. "James, what does this word mean?"
James spared her a quick glance. "Amendment."
Hazel's eyes widened with admiration. "Wow. So, what does the whole sentence mean?"
James exhaled through his nose. "Hazel, I'm trying to finish a day's work in 30 minutes. I don't have time to give you a translation lesson."
"Okay, okay. I'll stop bothering you. Carry on," Hazel replied.
James was doing everything he could to hold Cliff and work at the same time. He cradled the precious baby on his lap with one arm while typing with the other.
The little guy chewed on his chubby fingers, occasionally babbling and reaching for the papers on the desk. Every time those drool-soaked hands got too close, James would gently press them down
