Nikolai stared at his hands, slowly turning them over as if searching for something. His fingers were stained with fresh blood—his blood—but oddly, there was no pain, no open wound. He wasn’t actually bleeding. Confusion furrowed his brow as he looked back at the sun goddess, standing before him with a concerned expression.
"I'm not bleeding," Nikolai said, his voice edged with confusion.
Her golden brows knitted together as she gazed at his bloodied hands. "But there is blood," she insisted, her voice laced with genuine concern.
"My wounds have healed," Nikolai muttered, still wary of her intentions. His eyes narrowed as he raised his blade toward her, his grip tightening around the hilt. "What are you doing? Are you trying to distract me?"
"Distract?" Her eyes widened, and she looked at him as though he had just spoken something utterly absurd. "I'm only concerned. I saw blood, and I thought..."
