Charlotte thought I was missing. My stomach churned with anxiety as I walked toward our suite. I should have manned up and told her the truth.
She thought I was lost? Kidnapped? Dead?
How insensitive had I been ignoring my only sister’s calls? I rushed toward the elevators, noticing it was on the tenth floor. I stepped back and let my head rest against the opposing wall.
Now my face was plastered all over the national news. I didn’t even want to know how she pulled that off so easily. It’d only been a few days. But I couldn’t remember the last time we’d gone this long without speaking. And after I was supposed to go on a date for her?
She was most likely scared to death. Maybe she’d show up at one of Fletcher’s family’s restaurants? Did she feel well enough to do anything right now?
