Chapter 84 Chase Darwin’s Death
Time crawled by for the rest of the night.
Everything had come to a standstill from the moment Darius broke the news to Mirabel that Chase was dead. She had watched him die, and the last look on his face was one of betrayal.
It was her fault he's dead. She killed him.
She sank deeper into the chair, staring absently at the food spread before her. She waited for the tears to come, at least that could give her release. Give her an outlet for her pain.
As if the world had decided to punish her, no tears came.
She was left to sit in silence, and wallow in the cold, dark blackhole that had filled her chest.
“Why aren't you eating?” Darius appeared beside her, a sickening grin on his face. “Are you trying to insult my hospitality?”
“I'm not hungry.”
“Finish up what's on your plate, Mirabel. You do not want to anger our guests.”
