Mirabel pushed against the car door, yanking and pulling at the handle so hard it nearly came off. Nearly, because it didn't even budge.
“Open the door! Open the door, please! I have to go back!”
The driver faced forward, putting the car in high-speed.
She was crying. In pain and anguish. Oh, what had she gotten herself into? What had she done? If she hadn't distracted Chase so much, Spencer would have never been able to shoot him.
“I suggest you relax and try to get some sleep, miss. You've screamed yourself sore, and you've tried to jump out of the car a couple times.” The driver said, “You can't get out of this car, until we stop. And I'm not taking you back, you hear me?”
More sobs escaped her.
She felt utterly defeated. Was Chase dead? Flashes hit her hard, of the look in his eyes when he had realized she was trying to run away. He had actually looked hurt.
