Chapter 32 Event of The Year.
A month later…
Mirabel was dreaming about falling off a building, and she jolted awake with a muffled scream. The room was dark, and the night was quiet.
Her body was trembling.
She had had these dreams a few times already, and it was an ugly reminder of what she had endured a month ago. The injuries and bruises were gone, but the trauma remained.
“Those dreams again?” A raspy male voice asked beside her.
She turned to look at Chase. He was laying on the bed, deliciously shirtless. His hair was ruffled, that gorgeous face showing hints of sleep.
“Yes.” Mirabel whispered, “It's nothing, I didn't mean to disturb—”
He pulled her down against his chest, wrapping her into a cocoon within his warm, strong arms. His torso was so hard and protective, molding her softer figure against himself.
“You'll never have to worry about that again, wife.” He whispered in her ear, nipping it softly.
Her cheeks heated in a blush, body heating up in ways that mustn't be mentioned.
