The shadows danced against the walls in the tomb lit only by a flickering touch. Gabriel's concerned gaze rested upon Lucius, who sat in a corner, his expression a blend of frustration and weariness. "She is fine. Claire is making sure of that, and so is your pup. But for now, you have to focus," Gabriel assured him in a calming tone.
He turned to Gabriel, a hint of disbelief lingering in his eyes. "I still cannot believe Thane would stab me in the back like this."
"I know," Gabriel replied with a sympathetic nod. "And I am sorry. I can't imagine what I would feel like if Claire ever did something like this to me. But that shouldn't be your main focus right now. Our greatest advantage is the entire realm thinking you are dead. We have to keep it that way."
"I am tired of hiding out," Lucius sighed, his frustration evident.
"I know it's exhausting," Gabriel acknowledged, "But revealing that you are alive now would ruin our chance to take Thane by surprise."
