Chapter 1214
After finishing his meal, Ryan set his bowl aside and continued assembling the parts. Hours slipped by unnoticed. As he stretched his back to take a break, he realized the moon had already risen.
His stomach growled, reminding him of his hunger, and he wondered how Freya's soup was coming along.
He walked over to the fish pond and found Freya standing there, fishing pole in hand, upright like a soldier on duty. The sight made him chuckle.
"What's going on? Caught anything yet?" he asked as he approached.
She shook her head, looking disappointed. "I'm really sorry, but no. Supper's not ready. You must be starving!"
Noticing her legs turning red, he felt a pang of guilt. "Have you been standing here since evening?"
"Yeah," she replied in frustration. "A few fish bit, but they escaped before I could reel them in. I'm just not good at this."
His heart broke for her, and he smiled and said, "Do you know what you're doing now? You're showing them mercy!"
