Jake's decision to pour himself into work badly affected Samantha. She was beginning to feel the brunt of his decision, which made her scared. After all they had been through together and built, she would hate to lose it in the blink of an eye. Samantha watched her husband's situation deteriorate as the days turned to weeks. All attempts to offer him help were futile, and when she persisted, Jake would send her away. She didn’t know how to help her decision. It seemed that the family felt the weight of the business challenge they were currently facing. Samantha tried to help, but he pushed her away. She tried to talk to and reason with him, but he was closed off, consumed by his work. He became increasingly withdrawn daily, spending long hours at the office and coming home late. It started with him just being quiet when she asked questions and not being around for her even to ask those questions. Jake's problem was her problem. If he has a challenge he cannot solve, it affects her.
