As Samantha hugged Jake tight at the airport, her face buried in the familiar warmth of his old leather jacket. The last few days had been a lot—facing off with the villagers, taking a risky chance with a promised school tour, and finally, the bittersweet success of their agreement.
"Thank you," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "For everything."
Jake cupped her cheek gently, looking worn out but softened by the moment. "Hey," he said, his voice rough but tender. "We did it, didn't we? We got them on board."
A shaky smile appeared on Samantha's lips. "Barely," she said, pulling back a bit. "But that's all we needed, right? A chance."

"Just promise me you'll call as soon as you land," Samantha said, trembling. "Our son will be thrilled, and… I need to hear your voice."
