Upon seeing how the situation was unfolding, Avery was the first to speak. "It's late. You should head back early. I'm going upstairs too."
"Okay," Mason responded mildly.
He'd wanted to speak with her but realized that there was nothing to talk about.
Avery turned to Yolanda and said, "Yols, I'm heading upstairs. You should go back and rest early too."
Yolanda replied, "Alright, I'll head back immediately. You go ahead, Ave."
"Okay." After responding to Yolanda, Avery glanced back at Mason, telling him once more that she was going upstairs. She then turned and left.
The moment she left, she let out a big sigh. She still felt sad, but she felt much better than she had two hours ago.
Mason watched as she left. He couldn't quite describe how he was feeling.
