After the fierce kiss, Avery wiped her mouth and looked up at Mason. "Aren't you afraid I'll infect you?"
"Not at all," Mason said.
Then he bent down, pressed his face against hers, and frowned again. "You're definitely hotter than yesterday."
Avery said, "When you have a cold and fever, it's always like this. It flares up for a few days before it goes down."
After she finished speaking, Mason grabbed a thermometer he'd prepared on his desk and measured her temperature—100.9 degrees Fahrenheit. It wasn't worse than yesterday, at least.
