Mateo's reactions became more intense. It was like he was battling something inside himself.
Amelia gave Bethany another look. "Keep going. We're almost there."
"Mateo, help me! I don't want to die! Mateo, please, you're the only one who can save me!" Bethany cried out.
She felt like she was caught up in the scenario and almost felt Mateo's emotions, too. His reaction grew more frantic, his limbs twitching uncontrollably.
Bethany felt a jolt of fear. "Ms. Anderson, is this really okay? He looks like he's in so much pain. Maybe—"
She wanted to say they should stop, but just then, Mateo snapped awake. He shot up, gasping for air, sweat dripping through his hair and soaking his clothes.
