"Of course," Trystan said, his eyes bright with anticipation. "Let Ely come with me. I'll take good care of her."
Bethany finally nodded and softly asked Elysia, "Would you like to go, Ely?"
"Yes," Elysia responded softly, afraid to go home because of Samuel.
"Okay, you can stay at Ash's house for a few days. When you're ready to return home, I'll come to get you, okay?" Bethany hadn't been apart from Elysia in the three years since her memory loss, and she wasn't quite ready to let her go.
"Mommy, I love you so much." Elysia hugged Bethany's neck and planted a kiss on her cheek. "I'll just go to Ash's house for a little while and then come home."
Trystan noticed the sadness on Bethany's face. "If you miss her, you can come by anytime, or we can meet nearby—whatever works best for you."
Bethany smiled and nodded. "Thank you. If anything comes up, don't hesitate to call me."
She carefully handed Elysia to Trystan and said, "You can go ahead now."
