Frank lightly tapped Bethany on the shoulder and whispered, "Let's get going. Ash will be okay."
"Alright." Bethany let out a soft sigh, her heart in pain. She gave Asher a concerned look. "Ash, I'm heading home. I'll be back to see you tomorrow."
Asher stayed sulking, his cheeks puffed out in defiance. He clutched his little blanket tightly without saying a word.
"Well, we'll be on our way. Let me know if anything comes up," Bethany said to Trystan before approaching Mateo. Then, she gently said, "Ely, say bye to Ash."
"No, I don't want to." Elysia's sweet voice cracked with sobs.
"Alright, let's not push her," Mateo said, shaking his head at Bethany. "Let's go home."
The group left the hospital. Frank grabbed a cab back to Lawson Manor, while Bethany, Mateo, and Elysia took one to their place.
After getting into the car, Bethany pulled Elysia into her arms. Elysia looked exhausted from all the tears, her eyelids weighed down with sleep.
