After Bianca left, Trystan sank onto the couch and exclaimed, "Stop pretending!"
His gaze fixed on Bethany lying on the bed.
Bethany rolled over awkwardly and yawned. "I'm tired. I'm going to sleep. You should, too."
Trystan clenched his teeth and demanded, "Bethany! What did you tell my mom this morning?"
Bethany quietly pulled the blanket over her head.
Trystan rose and closed their distance with determined strides. He forcefully yanked the blanket away. "Speak!"
Clad in her pajamas, Bethany lay on her side. As Trystan abruptly uncovered her, her figure became apparent.
She hastily sat up and adjusted her clothing. "If I didn't mention something that would catch her attention, how else could I stall her?"
"What exactly did you say to her?" Trystan fought to avert his gaze from her chest.
"Just…" Bethany's voice trailed off. Her head drooped as she spoke each word cautiously, "Just things she's concerned about, like… us not having kids because… you're incompetent."
