The Fair Center was adorned with bright banners and colorful booths, but Laura, Sandrine, Sarah, and Victoria found the environment could have been more exciting. The project they had worked so hard on had been named the worst of the fair. Laura's laughter was heard in the crowd as it dispersed.
Laura's being there had become a source of mockery. She stood a few feet away from the discouraged crowd, arms crossed and a smirk on her face. Her hair, neatly styled into a bun, seemed to bounce with each chuckle. Her expensive dress and polished demeanor added to the sting of her mockery.
Sandrine, still angry from the previous argument, could barely control her anger. Sarah had blamed her and Victoria for the project's failure, and Sandrine bore the brunt of Sarah's rage. The gravity of Sarah's accusations had been imposing, but Laura's mocking laughter was the last straw. Sandrine, her face flushed with rage, marched purposefully over to Laura.
