After the news segment concluded, Victoria felt uneasy. She didn't want ties with the Ashbourne family, yet Lady Eleanor's public endorsement could complicate her tranquil life.
"Lady Eleanor seems to favor you," Sarah remarked, her eyes still glued to the TV. "Honestly, you're far better than Laura. I can't understand what Edmund saw in her."
Victoria sighed, running a hand through her hair. "At least Edmund's interested in Laura. If not for that, I'd still be married to him."
Sarah's face twisted in distaste. "Thank goodness you're already divorced."
Victoria rose from the couch, her movements tired but purposeful. "You keep watching TV. I'm heading to the shower and then to bed. I missed half a day of experiments today and must get to the lab early tomorrow."
Sarah glanced at the screen, conflicted. "But the interview isn't over. Don't you want to hear the rest?"
