Chapter 82 - A bond among friends
Jack and Elsa sat at the kitchen table, examining the silver weapons they had recovered from the Mafia boss's mansion. August lay on the couch, trying to appear nonchalant despite his battered and bruised body.
"I'm telling you, I'm fine," August said, wincing as he shifted positions. "Just a few scratches."
Elsa raised an eyebrow. "Scratches? You look like you've been put through a meat grinder."
August chuckled, a pained expression crossing his face. "That's just a little creative license, Elsa. I'm good as new."
Jack snorted. "Sure you are, August. That's why you're lying on the couch instead of helping us sort through this loot."
August's eyes narrowed. "Hey, I'm contributing. I'm... supervising."
Elsa smiled sweetly. "Of course you are, August. That's why we're doing all the heavy lifting while you relax."
August's face turned red, but he remained silent, clearly not wanting to admit his weakness.
