After a long pause, Elyar quietly asked, "Are you really going to go through with this?"
"Is there any doubt?"
"Alright, I understand."
Alison looked at what was in her hands and finally smiled, though it was a faint, fleeting smile that seemed to disappear as quickly as it appeared.
After Alison left, Elyar closed his office door and immediately called Oliver. The call was answered swiftly.
"Oliver, Alison asked me for a favor."
"I know," Oliver responded calmly.
Elyar was silent for a moment before asking, "Why don’t you seem surprised? Did you already expect this?"
"Was it that hard to predict?"
"Fair enough." Elyar rubbed his aching temples, staring at the medical records on his computer. His voice held a hint of resignation.
"Alison is so much more naive compared to you, but aren’t you worried? What if she does something irreversible?"
"It’s fine."
Oliver's voice remained calm, but it gave off an odd sense of indulgence.
