Chapter 100: Apology?
Alison slowed her breathing, her pale face tense with anxiety. She clenched the ruby ring tightly in her hand, using the slight pain as a way to calm herself down.
But in the next moment, Oliver tossed a towel over her head and said in a hoarse voice, “Stay here.”
As he spoke, Oliver’s steps were unsteady as he walked out of the bathroom.
“Uncle Oliver, you forgot your ring,” Alison called after him, opening her palm.
Oliver stopped, walked back to her, and ordered, “Put it on me.”
Alison, puzzled by his strange demand, didn’t bother arguing further. She carefully picked up the ring and tried to slide it onto his finger. After several failed attempts, she couldn’t get it on right.
With a slight frown, Oliver grabbed her hand, gently guiding the ring onto his finger. Alison didn’t understand what he was up to; his behavior was bizarre.
