CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FOUR - ATTEMPTED ESCAPE
The restraints were loosening, she could feel it. Just a little more...
Suddenly, the cabin door burst open. Jake stomped back in, his face like thunder.
"We've got a problem," he announced. "Our food supplies are running low. At this rate, we'll be out in two days, tops."
Anna froze, terrified that they would notice her handiwork. But the Betas were too caught up in their latest crisis to pay her any mind.
"Dammit," Marcus swore. "Alright, we need to make a supply run. David, you're with me. Jake, stay here and watch the girl."
Jake's face darkened. "Why do I always get stuck on babysitting duty?"
"Because I said so," Marcus snapped. "Now shut up and do as you're told."
As Marcus and David prepared to leave, Anna's mind raced. This could be her chance – but only if she played it smart.
She forced her body to go limp, letting her head loll forward as if unconscious. Through slitted eyes, she watched as Marcus paused by her chair.
"Keep a close eye on her," he instructed Jake.
