CHAPTER NINETY CHOICES
JADE’S POV
"Can we go downstairs?" I ask, not wanting to answer now; I need to think first. "Okay," he replies. After watching me for some time, and I exhale in relief for him not pushing this now, he pulls me up and leads me down by the hand without saying anything—precisely what I needed. We get to the kitchen, and I rest my back on the counter as he goes behind it in search of something. "What do you want?" He asks, and I start to think about what to eat. We resumed our conversation; I needed something light to think clearly without feeling queasy.
"Anything you want," I finally responded, unsure what to say. I wasn't good at multitasking; he must know that by now. He probably wanted to ask me again so I could make a choice, but one look from me caused him to nod and get to work, whatever he was doing.
