CHAPTER 83 END OF THE JOURNEY
Declan's POV
I waited for a moment, torn between Claire's plea and the weight of the woman's words. The forest held a beautiful allure that we couldn't deny, a sense of destiny that was with our own struggles. Yet, I was so scared of venturing into this unknown darkness.
Claire was looking at me, and I met Claire's gaze, my voice thick with indecision. "We should rest," I said gently. "We can decide what to do in the morning."
Claire nodded; I saw relief in her eyes. The woman watched us with an unreadable expression, then turned back to the herbalist, murmuring what sounded like a soft lullaby. As I became exhausted, I couldn't help but wonder what awaited us in the depths of this strange and powerful wood.
“We've not heard of Luna, I thought of her yesterday, she would be worried sick about us.” Claire said, sounding so unsettled in her voice.
“We'll be home soon, my dear, we will,” I assured.
As we settled down for a much-needed rest, Claire's earlier words echoed in my mind.
