Jaxon continued, "If you don't come and pick me up, then I'm walking there on my own."
A look of hesitation flashed across Helena's face. If this was last time, I'd have been kicked out of her car by now.
Whenever Jaxon came looking for her, she would tell me, "We live in the city center, and it's easier to get a cab here than where Jaxon lives. I need to go and pick him up. You can just get a cab instead."
I could tell that she was hesitating. So, I said in an understanding manner, "Go and pick him up. You can just drop me off at a random corner here."
Helena responded anxiously, "But what will you do? Never mind. I'll send you on your way."
I smiled wider and said, "I'll just get a cab. It's fine. Just drop me off here."
I pointed at the roadside up ahead. Helena was stunned for a bit. However, she still slowed to a stop.
After I got out of the car, she said, "I'll be back home earlier tonight."
