Chapter 132: The Major Leader?
Ignatius felt smug inside, convinced that the man before him was hopelessly naive. He believed that Neil had no means to combat his influence and that the phone call was nothing but a bluff. To Ignatius, Neil was already trapped in a situation where any struggle was futile.
Suddenly, Ignatius’s pager beeped. Only those of higher rank than him would use it to contact him. A beep meant something significant had happened.
Ignatius's face twitched with unease as he picked up the pager and answered it.
On the other end, a voice barked, “You idiot! What have you done? As of this moment, I’m firing you. Stay put and wait for me. If someone tries to kill you, you damn well endure it. Don’t drag the entire base down with you.” With that, the call abruptly ended.
Everyone in the room heard the harsh reprimand from the other side. The soldiers exchanged puzzled glances, recognizing the voice of the base's colonel. They silently lowered their heads, too afraid to speak.
