“You look like crap,” Lovisa said, sitting across from me in the office cafeteria.
“Tell me something I don’t know,” I rolled my eyes, wincing from the pain in my black eye. It wasn’t as painful as the first day, but it still hurt, compounded by the pain in my jaw and the bruised ribs I’d been nursing. Apparently, I was perfectly fine and enjoying a rather interesting time with a friend.
“How did this happen again? How many were there?” she asked, eyes wide. “I heard these crazy rumors about you fighting ten guys and trying to steal your father’s watch.”
I winced again at the exaggeration. “There were three of them, and one was about four or five inches taller than me, looking like he was drafted for the NFL but changed his mind later on. Just three,” I said, shaking my head slightly to favor my jaw. As for the watch, I wanted to say it was one of those in my closet, but she didn’t need to know.
