Chapter 612
There was no trace of Bruce's car and John when I first came out of the beauty salon. But as soon as I realized my car had broken down, I spun around and ran into John.
He even suggested giving me a ride home.
Feeling that something was off, I didn't answer his question and asked him instead, "Mr. Ziegler, are you following me?"
"N-No way, Mrs. Harold!" John stammered, clearly unskilled at lying. "Neither Mr. Harold nor I are bad guys, so why would we do that?"
A hint of panic crossed his face as he turned toward Bruce for backup.
"Isn't that right, Mr. Harold?"
How strange. Though I directed my question at John, I actually suspected that Bruce was the one following me. So, it was ridiculous of John to go to Bruce for backup.
In the dimly lit car, half of Bruce's face was illuminated while the other half remained in the shadows. It reminded me of his demeanor—the illuminated half symbolizing his love for Cindy, the other half resembling his inexplicable hostility toward me.
