The next morning, I requested to be discharged from the hospital.
Caroline initially objected, but she eventually relented.
As soon as the nurse removed my neck brace, I heard Caroline's surprised voice beside me, "Mr. Irvin?"
I slowly turned around to see a familiar figure walking in from the door.
"Sorry, I'm late. The school schedule was packed yesterday, and I only found out about your injury this morning. How are you now?" Douglas hurried in with a gift box in his hand. At that moment, his usually gentle tone was filled with worry.
"It's just a minor injury. You all didn't need to rush here. It's a hassle," I said as I moved my neck slightly to show him the plaster on the back. "Just a slight neck sprain. It's not serious, so I'm ready to be discharged."
