It had been a while since Douglas came to the office. I had many things I needed to discuss with him regarding the projects and also our personal matters. However, his words instantly shut down all the questions I wanted to ask. I met his eager gaze and felt my cheeks heating up. The words I wanted to say struggled to roll off my tongue. "I…" I wanted to say I missed him quite a little. After all, he held one of the most important roles in the project, and I desperately needed him to share some of the burden with me. Besides, after what Gabrielle had told me previously—outrageous, to say the least—I knew I needed to sit down and have a proper talk with him. It was important I cleared the air with him to stop everyone, especially Tiana, from misunderstanding us. However, that answer would've been too controversial. He would misunderstand it as a form of longing. I couldn't risk creating more misunderstandings. "I knew it. You missed me while I was away." Douglas, however, took over
