"I didn't steal anything. When you came to me, you never mentioned the ring," Evelyn argued, but her explanation seemed weak in the current situation.
"Just because you say you didn't steal it doesn't mean it's true. Madelyn was wearing the ring earlier while talking to the other ladies," Kaitlynn said as she helped the fallen Courtney up from the ground.
She then turned to a middle-aged woman in the crowd. "Mrs. McCray, do you remember the diamond ring Madelyn was wearing? You even complimented it."
The woman addressed as Mrs. McCray nodded quickly. "Yes, I remember. Mrs. Morse and I both saw it. Mrs. Morse even said Ms. Frazier's hand looked delicate, and anything would look good on her. Right, Mrs. Morse?"
The crowd's murmurs confirmed that Madelyn had been wearing the diamond ring earlier.
