Chapter Five - The Constant Torment
Deonna sighed, recounting Logan's "accident" and the disastrous dinner from the night before.
Nia's eyes flashed with anger. "That's it, Deonna. You need to stand up to him. He can't keep treating you like this!"
"I know, I know," Deonna said, rubbing her temples. "But I can't just confront him outright. He's the boss's son, for crying out loud. I need to be smart about this."
Nia shook her head, but didn't push the issue. "Just don't let him walk all over you, okay? You're better than that."
As Nia left, Deonna turned back to her ruined work, her mind churning with thoughts of how to handle Logan. She was determined to find a way to outsmart him, to beat him at his own game. She just needed time to figure out how.
The rest of the morning passed in a blur of catch-up work and damage control. By early afternoon, Deonna was on an important call with a potential client, trying to smooth over a misunderstanding about their services.
