CHAPTER FIFTY ONE – AN INCONSIDERABLE DISDAIN
"Hormonal," Logan muttered.
"Oh, that's rich," Deonna seethed. "Blame it on the pregnancy. Heaven forbid you consider anyone's comfort but your own."
Logan threw up his hands. "Fine, roast yourself. See if I care."
Their bickering extended to every aspect of their forced vacation. At breakfast, they quarreled over activity choices for the day.
"Snorkeling?" Deonna echoed, disbelief coloring her tone. "Logan, I'm pregnant. I can't exactly strap on a tank and dive into the reef."
Logan rolled his eyes. "It's not scuba diving, Deonna. It's perfectly safe."
"Says who? Your vast medical expertise?"
"Fine," Logan conceded, his jaw clenched. "What do you want to do? Sit by the pool all day?"
Deonna slammed her fork down. "What I want is to not be here at all, but we don't always get what we want, do we?"
As the week progressed, their arguments became increasingly trivial, highlighting the growing chasm between them.
