Deonna felt a warmth spread through her chest at his words. "Well, keep it up. At this rate, you might actually turn out to be an asset to this company instead of a liability."
Logan laughed, a genuine sound that Deonna realized she was growing fond of hearing. "High praise indeed, Ms. Vernetti. I'll do my best to live up to it."
As they walked back to their respective offices, Deonna found herself wondering how she had gone from despising Logan Maine to actually enjoying his company. It was a transformation she never could have predicted.
The day of the Henderson pitch arrived, bringing with it a nervous energy that permeated the entire office. Deonna paced in her office, reviewing her notes one last time. A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.
"Come in," she called, expecting to see one of her team members.
Instead, it was Logan who entered, looking uncharacteristically nervous. "Ms. Vernetti, do you have a moment?"
