"I can't do this anymore, Deonna," he said, his voice breaking. "I'm failing. Failing the company, failing my father, failing Kayla... failing you."
Deonna moved closer, her heart aching at the raw anguish in his voice. "Logan, you're not failing anyone. You're doing the best you can in an impossible situation."
He shook his head, running his hands through his hair in frustration. "Am I? The company is in chaos. Every day there's a new crisis, a new threat. The board is breathing down my neck, questioning every decision. And Dad..." His voice caught on the word. "I can't even be there for him the way I should be. And Kayla... God, Kayla. She deserves so much more than a father who's never there, who's always distracted."
Deonna knelt beside his chair, placing a comforting hand on his arm. "Logan, look at me," she said gently but firmly.
